SATURN Vejle

Vejle North East, Triangle Region · In development · interim operation 2027

Vejle North East is an established industrial cluster that is electrifying – but grid capacity in the area is committed, and Energinet’s new Bredal substation will not be commissioned until 2029.

SATURN Vejle solves this in two steps. From 2027, the Green Power Station can start operating through an existing 60 kV connection at a neighboring industrial site. From 2029, a dedicated ~4 km, 150 kV cable to the new Bredal substation provides 100 MW of capacity – sized for about 200 MW to leave room for growth.

Around the station, a campus of about 257 MW of connected load and generation is planned: an industrial gas producer, a district heating plant converting to electric heat, a logistics terminal, heavy-duty truck charging and a 200 MW third-party solar and wind park.

Operation two years before the permanent grid connection.

SATURN Vejle: two-stage connection and campus The Green Power Station in Vejle is connected in two stages. Stage 1, from 2027: interim access of 40 MW export and 30 MW import through the regional 60 kV grid via a neighboring industrial site. Stage 2, from 2029: a cable of about 4 kilometres at 150 kV to Energinet’s new Bredal 150 kV substation, providing 100 MW and sized for about 200 MW. Inside the station, a 150/33 kV substation feeds the medium-voltage busbar. The BESS consists of a 65 MW grid-forming PCS and 262 MWh of LFP energy storage. Direct lines start at the busbar inside the station and connect the planned campus of about 257 MW: a 200 MW third-party solar and wind park, an industrial gas producer of about 12 MW, electric district heating of about 10 MW, a logistics terminal of about 10 MW and heavy-duty truck charging of about 25 MW.
